Manage honey production and maintain colonies of honeybees. Ensure sufficient food reserves, construct hives, and replace combs. Collect and package hive products: honey, beeswax, and pollen. Control pests. Making hive increases, manage queen bees. Manage lawn areas in and around bee yards. Make hive reports daily. Support bee smokers and extract honey. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties often and engage in various general functions.

Work schedules may vary, and employees may be assigned to rotating shifts, including evening or weekend work as needed. Duties may change during the workday depending on weather conditions or other needs. Workers will perform a variety of general labor tasks as assigned, consistent with the job description and within the certified hours.
