farmworkers and laborers

Workers must follow directions from the supervisor in charge. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: applying fertilizers, transplanting, thinning or pruning plants/flowers and applying pesticides. Manually plant, cultivate and harvest horticultural specialties. May be required to do some incidental record keeping. May be required to do spot picking and/or clipping, include pulling weeds by hand. Use hand tools such as: shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and knives. Water plants and replace hoses in greenhouses. May move flower and/or Nursery containers from greenhouse to greenhouse. Pick up containers of flowers and/or Nursery stock and load them on shipping carts. Prepare or ready baskets of flowers for sale. May drive forklift to load and unload Plants and Nursery stock from trucks and to fill orders. Sweep and clean out delivery trucks for next day’s deliveries. Clean and organize greenhouses and utility sheds after use. Workers will help do minor repairs, cover, and maintain existing fences, farm buildings and greenhouses.
