Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops such as working with bins and augers to load carts and trailers; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment including performing ditch work, manually placing irrigation pipe; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as combine, tillage tool to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as soybeans; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, load crops and drive trucks t o transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Feel plants' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; Maintain inventory; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other s tructures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Weigh containers and record weights and identifying information; Guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, discard rotten items; Position boxes/bags at ends of machinery to catch products, remove and close full containers; speak and understand English.
